Raising awareness in Bulolo

In August 2019, Femili PNG’s Outreach team conducted awareness sessions reaching over 2800 men, women and children at Buang LLG in the Bulolo District, Morobe Province. The awareness sessions were carried out in villages and schools in 19 different wards, providing information on the different forms of family and sexual violence (FSV), child abuse, the related laws, and child safety rules to children.

Seeing the increasing number of FSV cases in the area, the communities and villages requested for awareness sessions through the newly established Mumeng Police Family and Sexual Violence Unit (FSVU).

Regardless of the bad road condition during the wet season, the Outreach team managed to complete the awareness sessions successfully, including a whole day information session to community leaders at the Buang LLG Chamber.

Femili PNG is supported by the Australian Government in partnership with the Government of Papua New Guinea as part of the Pacific Women Shaping Pacific Development program.
