Project Two Mile raised funds during the International Women’s Day event in Sydney on the 9th of March and donated the proceeds collected to Femili PNG to help the organisation continue supporting women and children who are survivors of family and sexual violence across Papua New Guinea (PNG).

The event was hosted in collaboration with Paloma Salon, purposely to share and learn about women in Papua New Guinea – strongly advocating that their stories must be honoured and celebrated. Participants who joined the celebration purchased PNG bilum that were on display, while some donated in kind for the cause.

Project Two Mile Founder, Maggie Timbi said:

“We hosted the event and wanted to donate the fees collected from the event to a charity organisation in PNG and came across Femili PNG’s page. Femili PNG’s mission resonated deeply with the values we uphold at Project Two Mile, and we hope this donation contributes meaningfully to the programs and initiatives.”

Femili PNG CEO, Daisy Plana, expressed gratitude for the support, saying:

“This generous donation from Project Two Mile will help us continue providing critical services to survivors of family and sexual violence. Partnerships like this remind survivors that they are not alone and that communities near and far stand with them.”

Project Two Mile is a social enterprise working with women who live in the informal settlements in Port Moresby, creating income opportunities through the sale of bilum weaving. Their work centres on women’s economic independence.Project Two Mile had raised funds during recent International Women’s Day event in Sydney on the 9th of March and donated proceedings collected to Femili PNG to help the organisation continue supporting women and children who are survivors of family and sexual violence across Papua New Guinea (PNG).
