Lae CMC celebrates Femili PNG’s tenth anniversary

Femili PNG (FPNG) Lae Case Management centre marked a decade of assisting survivors of family and sexual violence in Morobe Province. On Friday, July 26, the staff celebrated with partners, service providers and business houses in Lae at the Lae Yatch Club.

The event was organized to reflect how far this local NGO have journeyed in the past 10 years to assist survivors of family and sexual violence in Morobe and PNG.

More than 100 guests turned up to celebrate with FPNG staff. Amongst them were the invited guests which includes: Femili PNG Chair, Professor Stephen Howes and wife, Dr Clare Holberton, Australia Consulate – General in Lae Mr Mark Foxe, Ms Ludy Agon (Credit Analyst BSP Financial Group Ltd – Papua New Guinea), Senior Sergeant Ruth Murup (Provincial Coordinator – Morobe Family Sexual Violence Unit), Ps Enopa (Morobe Mission – Seventh Day Adventist Church) and Thelma Hunginato (Morobe FSVAC).

On behalf of Femili PNG CEO, Communications and PR Manager Renat Muruket officially opened the event with a warm welcome.  “I am standing here proud of the remarkable achievements of a local non-government organization who has been providing effective case management services to survivors of family and sexual violence since July, 2014”.She highlighted that this event is not to just celebrate but to reaffirm FPNG’s commitment to its mission and vision and hope to shed light on the impact of orgnanisation collective efforts and the continuous need for support.

Femili PNG’s strong supporter and Chair, Professor Stephen Howes launched Femili PNG 10 year report as a highlight of the event, reflecting back on Femili PNG’s journey where its first client was seen on 25th July, 2024 in Lae Morobe Province.  He elaborated saying that since then, Femili PNG has assisted more than 7,000 survivors of Family and Sexual Violence across Lae, Port Moresby and Goroka offices.

Representing Femili PNG’s main donor, the Australia Consulate – General in Lae, Mr. Mark Foxe made a remarkable speech, thanking Femili PNG board, management and staff for their time and commitment in providing effective case management services to survivors of family and sexual violence.

Meanwhile, service providers like FSVU, SDA Morobe Misson, City Mission, police and FSC in Lae took time to reflect and acknowledge Femili PNG’s vital work and ongoing support in working together to improve responds to family and sexual violence in the province.  

The event ended on a high note with a call for support to help Femili PNG secure a piece of land and a bigger office space made by FPNG In-house Lawyer and Acting Operations Director for Lae CMC, Ms. Delwyn Dau.
