On 8 August, Lindy Kanan, Senior Research Officer at the ANU Department of Pacific Affairs, and Mr Pious Tapil, Senior Provincial Magistrate Morobe Province, presented the results of a pilot study in Family Protection orders as a response to domestic and family violence at the PNG Update.
The annual PNG Update is the premier forum for the discussion of research and analysis relating to contemporary economic and public policy issues in PNG. The Update is organised by UPNG’s School of Business and Public Policy and ANU’s Development Policy Centre, was held in Port Moresby on 8-9 August, and was very well attended.
Femili PNG was pleased to be able to contribute to this very important research, which found an increase in the number of protection orders issued in Morobe Province since 2014.
The pdf of the presentation on family protection orders from the PNG Update is available here. You can also listen to the audio from the presentation here.
Femili PNG and the researchers are supported by the Australian Government in partnership with the Government of Papua New Guinea as part of the Pacific Women Shaping Pacific Development program.
