Regional partners in the Pacific gathered in Suva, Fiji for the Pacific Strong: Amplifying Action to End Violence Against Women and Girls (PAVE) Inception Workshop from February 16 to the 18. The event brought together organizations from across the Pacific to strengthen partnerships, share knowledge, and enhance support services for survivors of violence.
The three-day workshop is a first workshop to 11 pacific organisations recipients of the PAVE initiative program, funded by the Australian Government, a five- year funding to intensify services addressing family violence, sexual violence, and child abuse. Femili PNG’s Goroka Case Management Centre is the only selected organization from Papua New Guinea.
Femili PNG was proudly represented by Jonica Jay, Program Manager – Femili PNG Case Management Centre in Goroka who joined participants from Fiji, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Kiribati, Vanuatu, Tuvalu, the Marshall Islands and Chuuk.
The three-day event focused on building a shared understanding of the PAVE program as participating organizations prepare to begin implementation of the program. Sessions covered include monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes, reporting requirements, and strategies to improve services for survivors of violence.
According to Jonica Jay, a panel discussion featuring crisis centre representatives had provided valuable insight into real-life experiences to support survivors and managing safe houses. Jonica elaborated that a framework was also introduced to guide organizations in analysing data and applying findings to improve PAVE programs.
The workshop concluded with renewed motivation, strengthen partnerships, and a shared regional commitment to ending violence against women and girls. The workshop equipped with new skills, practical tools, and established networks to continue their work in supporting survivors and building safer communities.
Together, we are amplifying action, strengthening services, and creating a future where women and girls can live free from violence.
Femili PNG acknowledges support from the Australian Government through the PAVE program in strengthening and preparing Femili PNG on the program implementation.
