Last year, Femili PNG commissioned an evaluation of progress against its most recent, multiyear strategic plan.
After a competitive selection process, a two-person team of Dr Brad Watson and Ms Minetta Kakarere were chosen to undertake the evaluation . Brad has 25+ years of teaching, research, and evaluation experience. He has lived in Papua New Guinea and has reviewed the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s response to family violence there. Minetta Minetta is a Teaching Fellow in the Political Science Department at the University of Papua New Guinea where she specialises in Gender-Based Violence research, with a particular focus on intimate partner violence; its causes, effects, mitigation, and prevention.
The evaluation is now complete and, in the interests of transparency and learning, we are publishing it as we have our other evaluations.
We thank Brad and Minetta for their hard work and commitment to this undertaking, and for the high quality of their work.
We also thank PNG Women Lead, and through them the PNGAus Partnership for funding the evaluation.
As the evaluation notes, “Organisational ‘deep dives’ like this are rare, and this one indicates an extraordinary commitment to learning and transparency.”
We have already found the evaluation to be extremely useful and we plan to draw on it and respond to it as we prepare our next strategic plan.
