Femili PNG is delighted to announce the appointment of Micaela Cronin, Australia’s first Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Commissioner, to its Board of Directors.
Micaela Cronin is Australia’s first Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Commissioner. A third‑generation social worker, she began her career in family violence and sexual assault services. She has since held senior leadership roles across the social services sector in Australia and internationally, including as President of the Australian Council of Social Services, and as CEO of of an international non‑government organisation based in Asia addressing human trafficking and human rights abuses.
Femili PNG is a Papua New Guinean non-government organisation that provides case management services to survivors of family and sexual violence. It operates Case Management Centres in Lae and Goroka and the Bel isi Case Management Centre and Safe House in Port Moresby. Through these services, Femili PNG works to ensure survivors can access the protection, support, and assistance they need to rebuild their lives with safety and dignity.
Micaela’s appointment will further strengthen Femili PNG’s already strong Board. The Femili PNG Board Chair is Professor Stephen Howes, Director of the ANU Development Policy Centre. The Deputy Chair is Dr Eric Kwa, Secretary, Department of Justice and Attorney General. The Secretary is Ms Marcia Kalinoe, Program Manager, National Gender Based Violence Secretariat, and the Treasurer is Mr Moses David, Senior Economist with Kina Bank and Vice-President, PNG Business Council. Other Board members are Ms Stephanie Copus-Campbell, Chair of City Pharmacy Limited, and Ms Enid Barlong Kantha, GEDSI Lead with the Australia-Papua New Guinea Building Community Engagement Program.
